UMWF Anti-Doping Policy

The United Masters Weightlifting Federation (UMWF) is committed to fair and clean sport. All UMWF-sanctioned events implement drug testing protocols that meet the technical standards established by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

UMWF applies a strict anti-doping policy, aligned with the International Weightlifting Federation’s (IWF) approach to banned substances. This includes the prohibition of Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) unless a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) has been approved in advance under WADA and IWF protocols.

We recognise that anti-doping standards are not consistent across all Masters organisations. UMWF chooses to uphold a more rigorous approach outlined by WADA and IWF, to ensure a level playing field and maintain the integrity of competition.

For more information on the standards we follow, please refer to the IWF Anti-Doping Policy: https://iwf.sport/anti-doping/
